Karen Blake
Inspired by landscape – what makes a space, what is fluid, fleeting or threatened, Karen tries to express her experience of the space she is part of.
She draws, paints, creates artists’ books and interventions in the landscape, sometimes using mapping technologies. Her drawings are more figurative; her paintings are increasingly abstract.
She has gazed west from Kintyre’s coast and clambered over its shores for seven decades. Rocks seem smaller now, but lichen is as bright, the air softer, and the seascape vaster and more ancient.
