Alastair Buchan is a painter in thickly applied oils. Originally from Manchester, he now lives and works on the shores of Loch Fyne, where he combines painting with work as a commercial langoustine fisherman; the deck of a boat being the ideal place from which to experience and enjoy the ever-shifting moods of Scotland’s west coast. For Artmap Argyll 2025, he will be sharing a studio with Jules Mather.
