Don Webster
Don has a life-long affinity with wood and wood art, but only recently turned to woodturning. He works with a wide range of ethically-sourced native hardwoods sourced from empathetic friends. The character of donated logs influences the shapes to be developed and, in addition to revealing the wood grain, figure and colour, it is a central principle of his approach to retain or reveal features such as bark, bark inclusions, voids, burls and spalting. In some turned pieces, dyes, charring, piercing or carving is applied.
