Biography/Description

Michael’s Sacred Stone series aims to revive the lost art of Dalriada.
Referencing the carved stones of Argyll, his work embodies the spiritual legacy of this land. Michael’s subject matter is informed by the Old Masters and his Roman Catholic faith. Following this tradition, he paints in handmade egg tempera. Up to the late Medieval period in Europe, healing was a major theme of Iconography. His re-imagining of the ‘Madonna and Child’ depicts the child in her womb. Michael revises the Sacred Feminine to enable healing contemplation for the contemporary world.
