I was born in the Highlands of Scotland and for most of my life I grew up on the Isle of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides. From a young age I admired and appreciated the beauty, spirituality and culture of the people, landscape and the nature that encompassed the islands. Growing up on my grandmother’s croft gave me a love for her animals and way of life which reflects through my work. A lot of my work is an expression of memories, emotions and experiences. Colour plays a huge part within my work whatever medium I use.
I graduated from John Moores University, Liverpool with a BA (Hons) Fine Art and have worked as a Secondary School Art teacher for the past 10 years in Inverness.
In 2017 my husband Euan, daughters Iona and Freya re-located to the Isle of Luing, by Oban where Euan now works as a Farm Manager and I am paint full time when I’m not teaching art at Kilninver Primary. .
